How will the new symbol be displayed in GainsKeeper?

Answer

The new option symbol for the affected option types will have for distinct fields. These include:

• Root symbol

• Option expiration date

• Put or Call (indicated by "P" or "C")

• Strike Price

GainsKeeper will use a colon (:) delimiter between the four fields. The fields will be shown in the following order:

1. Symbol

2. Expiration Date

3. Put or Call

4. Strike Price

Here is an example of how option symbols will be displayed in GainsKeeper:

MSFT:20Nov10:C:42.5

From looking at the above example, you can easily discern this is a call (C) for Microsoft stock (MSFT), with a strike price of $42.50, that expires on the 20th of November, 2010 (20Nov10).
